RE: [A/S] Re: Water filters recommendation

I would recommend the Everpure RV water filter. The replaceable filter
element is enclosed in its own metal container and it is easy to replace
with its bayonet mount and shut off valve integral to the mounted
valve/head.

Airstream used to offer them as an option. I do not know if they still do.

However, Everpure filters are widely used commercially and are an excellent
product.

The RV filter is both a particulate filter and an activated charcoal unit.
Unlike most charcoal filters which are simply a container of charcoal filter
material[which can clog prematurely, or "tunnel" allowing the water to pas
through the filter unfiltered] Everpure uses a proprietary design which
increases the effective exposed surface area of the charcoal and does not
tunnel.

The charcoal filter allows you to "super chlorinate" (with chlorine bleach)
your fresh water tank, and then remove all the chlorine (and other
contaminates) when drawing the water through the filter.

Typically, the filter is used with a separate faucet on the cold water side
of the galley sink. This water is fine to drink, and will not contain any
bad taste, or harmful contaminates. With such a set up, you really don't
need bottled water for cooking or drinking.

Camping World sells both the entire filter assembly kit as well as the
replacement filter cartridges. I think the kit runs about $50.00 and a
package of two filter cartridges is under $30.00.
