[A/S] Optima batteries...

I am contemplating replacing my batteries in oour 86 Excella and using
the original univolt... I did a search on the archives and got one hit
from Smith that was using a replacement 10 amp charger... 

Has anyone switched to Optima and what model are you using?? It looks
like the D34M is one of the coices that might work, but I would like
to hear from someone who has made the switch...

I have had problems with the batteries I have selected being just a
little too big... one set required the removal of the door frames from
the battery compartments to get them out... My experience with the
Marine batteries is about 2 nights of on the road furnace use during
winter travel.. I would hate to spend $300 and find I don't get even
that out of the Optima batteries..

Looking forward to some good advice...
