Re: [A/S] Parking/living off the land?!?

As a general rule, you need to start at the most local level, which
might be a neighborhood homeowners association which will have rules
about RV's. Then you need to work your way up through village,
town/city, county levels to see what their rules are. And if you don't
own the property, you need to know what the rules are of the BLM, or
what ever agency owns it.

In many places, there are zoning or land use rules that will prohibit
living in an RV for any length of time, or perhaps allow only a limited
length of time.

The perception that people who live in trailers are trash and thus lower
the property values around them is mostly responsible for these laws,
but there are also health concerns about waste disposal that make these
rules get passed.

Note also that many places will have laws against even storing your RV
on your property.

And yes, even on your own property that you pay taxes on !

You will find that the further away from civilization you get the less
rules there are.

Here's a nice story I heard, a family moved into a horse community and
then started to demand that people pick up horse poop in the dirt riding
trails !

Grrr.
