When we put a new refg in our 1970 A/S  we learned it is not the size 
of the space in back of the unit.   But it is that you must make an 
airtight seal at the top to make a chimney to suck or direct the air 
after it is warmed up and out the top.   Make a wind tunnel in back of 
it.   A/S had a great idea by placing an opening in the floor rather 
than just louvers in the door.   This pulls the cool air from the 
ground and up that chimney.
