[A/S] Microwave Remodel

Hi Gang,

Anyone who has been in my trailer knows that it's an on going redesign
project. As far as I'm concerned Airstreams are like new coloring books. The lines
are there but you have to fill them in.

Well, this weekend I evacuated the farm just in case, as the hurricane was
headed for Florida.

While I was camped up in Lake City I finished a project I've been dying to
do.

One of my very favorite things is art, paintings. I have them everywhere I
can squeeze them in on a wall. One of my least favorite things is feeling like
I'm sitting in a kitchen, and the microwave sitting in the wall made me feel
that way. I decided a great way to make both my favorite and least favorite to
come together.

So.... I took the big microwave out of the cubby it lived in, above the
fridge. I bought a slightly smaller one that would fit in the space without
sticking out beyond the opening.

Then I hinged up an antique board. It was actually the top of a child's toy
chest, I bought it last summer. Then I screwed an oil painting onto the board.

Then I bought a large folding support and put it inside the board and
attached it to the cubby ceiling.

Voila. An oil painting instead of a microwave. Lift the painting and use
the microwave when I need it, then back the painting goes.

I put some photos up on a website....

BTW, this is a two person job, my friend Marie who evacuated south Florida
with her husband and sister, helped. I could not have done this without her,
it's too hard to work up under the hinges.
