Re: [A/S] Opinion wanted on best truck to use
For what it's worth,
I tow an '02 30' Classic with an '02 GMC Denali 6.0 liter and 4.10
gear.
This past spring on a trip to Florida's West Coast from West Viginia,
2278
miles, I averaged 10.8 mpg. I love the quadrasteer and highly
recomend it. I
haven't had any problems with over 40K miles. Besides diesel fuel
costs as
much as high test. My son in law has a Ford F-250 King Ranch diesel
and he
go15-16 mpg over a similiar trip towing SOB. Now, I know you can't
beat the
torque of a diesel, but the additional up front cost of $65-7500 and
no
savings in fuel costs, except additional mileage, is a lot to
overcome. I
suspect one would have to put 300K miles or more on a diesel to
ofset this additional cost, not to mention substantially greater
maintenance
costs. Also, keep in mind that the Denali is full time four-wheel
drive. I
wish that I could disable or turn it off.
