Re: [A/S] Opinion wanted on best truck to use

Here is my 2 cents:
 I just traded a 2001 Dodge 3500 dually for a 2005 Dodge single rear
wheel 3500. I was anxious to see what the difference might be when
pulling our 2001 Excella 30' trailer. The tongue pushes the truck
down a little more than it did the dually. Other than that, it
pulls the same as the dually. I'm using a Reese hitch. I've also
noticed it seems easier to guide the trailer when backing up than
the dually.

IMO, the diesel engine is the only way to go. A gas engine might
get 7-8 mpg whereas the diesel gets 12.5 while towing. The diesel
engine will outlast the gas 3 to 1 and still have resale value and
demand. The new diesels are quiet at idle and have amazing torque.

The only negative I have found in the Dodge truck is that there is
an annoying harmonic drone/vibration in the driveline that starts at
70 mph and continues through 80 mph. Dodge claims "it's a normal
characteristic of this truck". Some trucks have it, some don't, and
Dodge has no fix for it. Buyers need to be aware.
