Before you start sticking steel wool around your aluminum trailer,
remember about dissimilar metals and moisture?

Your best bet is to go to your friendly neighbourhood industrial
supply house and get some stainless steel wool.  Still dissimilar, but
far less reactive.  If you can back it up with duct seal (from the
electrical supply house or home center) so much the better.  If you
can't get the putty like duct seal in to backup the wool, just knead
the wool and duct seal together (gloves wouldn't be a bad idea 
here)and stuff the holes.

This was how we kept mice out of our fiber optic termination cabinets.
 They love to eat the plastic and steal the kevlar fibers for their
nests.  Very careless about breaking the glass fiber, though.
