3  reason:  The contented feeling sitting inside warm and dry when it  
rains.  With a pop up you'll feel cool and damp.

#2  reason:  Airstreams are tough, long lasting trailers.

#1  reason:  The bluegrass folks will think Airstreams are the coolest  
and you'll have many conversions about it.  Nobody will care about a  
pop-up.

I agree all very good reasons!
I had owned a very nice pop up Coleman for many years before moving on to a  
hard side SOB and then the Airstream I own now. While the popup was easy to 
tow,  and could go just about anywhere, it was drafty, damp, not private at 
all(cloth  walls) and the set up time was long compared to the Airstream.
 
I would suggest maybe a 25 ' for your need. Two people, and dogs, in  
something smaller would be a might tight for my thinking. Also, once ya have  one, 
you will find your self wanting to not only do those weekends, but your  week 
and two week trips to National, and state parks. At least I did!
 
I also agree with trying to find an older one, 70's era is my Fav, but  
that's just an opinion. Check out the many resource links for Airstreams, many  
have pics of both inside and out , then start looking. Don't be afraid to do a  
little travel to get one. I went from San Diego to Canton South Dakota to buy  
the one that was the right price and layout for my needs. You with this list,  
have many excellent sources of info on just about any problems you may  
encounter.
