RE: [A/S] Fwd: Safari vs. Classic window

As Hunter points out, A/S now does offer a Safari with the Classic windows
in the form of the SE series. At present, the SE is available in 19, 25SS
and 25FB models and the 28' will follow in the fall timeframe, so if a
person is buying new and wants the classic windows, just go for the SE. The
price delta is about halfway between the Safari and International models.

Retrofitting is a mixed bag. The Classic windows are buck riveted to the
outside skin and then an interior bezel finishes off the inside. When done
at the factory, A/S has an opportunity to catch leaks as the windows are
installed and leak test prior to the interior skin going in. This does NOT
mean that a classic window can't be field installed with the interior skin
in place, it just makes it a bit more difficult. So retrofitting is
possible, but at considerable expense and risk of leaks if done poorly.

I do think that if A/S would just offer the front wrap windows as an option
on any Safari, they would be shocked at the percentage of buyers that would
opt for such.
