Teri,
My wife picked up a trailer from a friend who was loaning it to me.  It was 
made from a shortbed pickup and she forgot to hook up the safety chains.  
The trailer parted from the vehicle right in front of a bridge and several 
blocks from the house.  It ran off the road on the left hand side, hit a 
small sign and stopped just short of the stream the bridge was over.  It 
cost me $200 to have the tongue rebuilt and I had to do a bit of bodywork.  
I'm lucky no one was coming the other direction.  I guess I can't blame her 
because I assumed she knew to attach the chains.
