Hi, Ed:

         The place the Reese rep. (Doug Showker) says to check is at all 
welds and all around the tube that receives the hitch head.  It sounds like 
your inspection was exactly what is called for. I expect you would have 
seen anything bad.  Visual inspection with a flashlight is what is recommended.
