Airstreams require the round 7 connector plug with flat blades like Ford 
and Chevy include as part of their towing package today. 6 of the 7 
wires are used.  Wires used incude Ground, Brake , +12V, Left turn/stop, 
right turn/stop, running lights. Position  within the connector has not 
been the same during the time Airstreams have been manufactured so the 
age of your Airstream will determine how it is wired. I suggest wiring 
to the current Chevy/Ford standard. Its usually molded into the 
connector on the back of the truck. If your horse trailer had brakes I 
would expect it to be similar. The other most common connector is a flat 
4 wire conector and there are adapters to go from 7 wire to 4 wire 
connectors. Autozone etc. will have them.  Sometimes you just have to 
use a tester  to check each lead on the connector to see what the wire 
controls.
