fuel to air mixture?  Can you loosen the adjustment screw so that you can 
slide the piece back and forth to get the correct burn again?  Is there any trash 
built up around the orifice where the fuel enters the mix part of the burn 
tube?  Popping sounds may come from no fuel to full fuel variation in the mix 
part of the tube or when the burn tube loads up with raw, unburned fuel only to 
ignite all at once with no where
