Hi again,
My Traveler is getting closer to completion so I need to deal with
hitches. I've been following the discussions about tow vehicles and am
ready to buy a weight distribution hitch with/and sway control. I would
appreciate your input about brands and their strengths/weaknesses. I'm
not going to buy a Hensley, so let's not include it in your replies.
I'm towing with a 2000 Ford Ranger Extra Cab XLT 4.0 L engine, rear
wheel drive. I just weighed my single axle 1960 Traveler: 2700 lbs dry
weight. The trailer, packed, passengers and other gear will be well
below the maximum towing capacity of the Ranger. Its wheel base is 125
inches.
Is there a major difference in quality between Equilizer, Reese, Curt or
other brand weight distribution hitches?
I see that some require an additional anti-sway bar and that's okay
if it's the right system.
I've looked at the Reese dual cam anti-sway system.
It looks good, but won't work with the rest of the things up front
the way I'd like.
Do you think I need other suspension support on the pickup rear axle? (
I didn't think I did if I use a weight distribution hitch system.)
Have I missed anything I should be asking about?
Thanks for your advice.
Cindy
