I sent my reply on your post.

That's a good question you raise since their inflation
chart showed the same line for the same size C and D
rated tire, with an indicator showing the C and D
limits.  I almost asked the question (but didn't),
would the same size tire, one rated as a C and one
rated as a D, both inflated to carry 2150 lbs., the C
being at max inflation and the D carrying inflation
for 2150 lbs., would the D run hotter than the C?

I guess my answer might be, if the D did run hotter,
it probably would be able to support the increased
temperatures due to its higher strength.  My van has E
rated tires.  Max inflation for the back tires as
recommended by GM and the tire manufacturer is 80 lbs.
 Max. inflation for the front tires at full load
conditions is 50 lbs., even though the tire can hold
80.  If we use the your initial thinking would my
front tires be considered underinflated?  Granted the
weight borne by the rear axle would be much greater
but technically GM is saying the fron tire don't need
that much inflation pressure due to the reduced
loading.  My analogy is the same for the D rated tire
carry 2150 lbs. max.

Maybe someone can give some other thoughts.
