As long as you are doing spot refinishing you have a lot of leeway with 
clearcote.
Most modern clearcotes are too stiff to keep up with the 
expansion/contraction of aluminum on an Airstream for large areas. For 
small spots any lacquer based clearcote will work.
Make sure the area is clean of waxes or Walbernize. Use a solvent like 
lacquer thinner.
Wrap your hand with duct tape like you were going to remove lint, sticky 
side out, and pat around the area to ensure any other loose pieces are 
removed.
Spray area twice with thin coats. Let dry for a week or so and then 
apply the protective coating of your choice.
