[A/S] Re: Upgrading our sound system.
Mark,
"Very Thorough", to answer your question back to me. I plan to use
the existing locations for both the speakers and the head unit. The
rear bedroom speakers will stay as they are. The front speakers
are in the cabinets above the stove and the dinnette, which point to
the front couch. Currently they are small, approx. 4 inchers, which
I plan to replace with a high quality tweeter and midrange
speaker. I am also interested in replacing the existing wire with
something like a Monster Cable, but I'm not sure if I would be able
to attatch the larger diameter wire to the smaller wire and pull it
through.
My next issue would be the head unit. I don't want a unit with alot
of lights flashing, like most of the new units seem to have these
days. I'd like ample power for each of the 4 speakers and a pre-out
for a separate amplified subwoofer, which I'd like to install
between the couch and the front wall/window. I'm not sure if I will
need any filters or exactly how to get the wires from the head unit
to the amp without making it look jerry rigged.
I guess what I'd like to know is if anyone has done this type of
conversion, what brand/models of equipment used, and how did they
install it. I'm sure I can figure it out on my own, but I'd love to
have input from someone with experience to provide their input.
Any suggestions will be appreciated!
Michael
