RE: [A/S] first trip in A/S

Claudette - Some of these may sound like a true 'Duh', but ...
A. Before you leave home -
1. Make sure your battery(s) are charged up,
2. Stow all breakables you have on the open counters, including your TV if
you haven't strapped it down securely,
3. Take a walk around your trailer, double checking that all the exterior
storage compartment doors are all closed & locked, all power cords & water
hoses are disconnected & stowed, both locks on the door are locked, the
awning locks are in place, and your hookup to the hitch ball is correctly
done with the brake & running light cord is securely hooked up, your
emergency brake cable is attached to your tow vehicle and your tow chains
are crossed to the tow vehicle and secured.

B. On arrival at your destination -
1. Get your trailer level side to side and front to back BEFORE you take the
trailer off the hitch ball,
2. Set your wheel chocks BEFORE you take the trailer off the hitch ball,
3. Disconnect the trailer from the tow vehicle's ball & wrap the power cord
& brake wire gently around the jack stand,
3. Lower your stabilizers,
4 Use your volt meter to insure the RV park is supplying your trailer with
the 30 amps. your trailer needs,
5 Have a wonderful experience with your a)family & friends, and b)CCD,
which will make it all so enjoyable,

C. As you prepare to leave for home -
1. Remember to dump your black water tank first, then your gray water, then
stow the sewer hose away in its own 'home',
2. Disconnect & stow your electricity cord & water hose, as well as any
chairs or other 'stuff' you may have put out,
3. Remove & stow your chocks,
4. Roll your awnings back up and make sure the awning's locks are in place,

And lastly, and fairly important - take a walk around your trailer as
discussed in A1 above, but in reverse. And DON'T make the same mistake I
made - please remember to raise the leg on your trailer's jack. I drove off
and then wondered what that drag could be. A new jack leg ran me a healthy
$300+, not to mention living thru the howls of laughter from my new friends
in my local WBCCI chapter. I'm still living that one down, even tho they all
admit to making the same mistake.
