RE: [A/S] Airstream Floor Waterproof plywood source
Dan,
Find a hardwood lumber company in your area who also carries hardwood
plywood. In particular, look for Finnish (from Finland) birch plywood or
Baltic Birch (from Russia). Both of these come in 5' x 5' sheets in metric
thicknesses from approximately 1/16" on up to 3/4" (19mm). The Finnish
Birch is a little better quality than the Baltic Birch (and more expensive
as well).
Both of these products are glued with a waterproof (or water resistant) glue
and have solid veneer core plies (no voids). Either would work for your
application (the cheaper Baltic variety would be more than adequate) and
you aren't stuck with a 4' x 8' sheet.
I do not know where you are located, but Baltic Birch plywood should be
available in most larger cities. If you have trouble finding a source,
e-mail me off line. There are mail order suppliers like Aircraft Spruce and
Specialty Co. in Fullerton, CA. They have a web site. But I don't know what
the shipping costs would be. The 5' x 5' panel might slip through the UPS
system at an affordable cost since the material is relatively light and not
extra large, But I do not know for sure.
