Sounds like the combustion chamber has rusted through. When my furnace was
rebuilt a couple years ago and many muddaubber nests were cleaned out, a
thorough inspection was done on the thickness of that area. The technician
said the furnace had a few good years left in it but I should consider a new
one down the road. I noticed a bunch of them when I explored prices on
ebay.
