Oliver, One other think mentioned on that forum was the fact that some people have noticed a thin layer of whitish powder down steam of the filter. I don't expect that the tube to the MAS would be completely sterile but when I removed my stock filter from my '01 2500hd 8.1 at 41,000 miles I hardly noticed anything.
