In Georgia, you have 30 days to register and plate a newly acquired vehicle.
You don't need any plate for that period of time.  In Alabama, a trailer
below a certain weight doesn't need a plate at all (according to a friend
who lived there).  You see new cars in Georgia riding around with nothing
but the dealer's plastic advertizing plate on them, no temp or permanent
tags.  You just put your bill of sale in the glove box.
