[A/S] Repairing awning pull strap

The loop on the end of my awning pull strap has been looking ragged 
for a while, and it finally broke on the last trip.  I was able to 
make a temporary repair so I could properly close the awning and 
hopefully get it back open for a proper repair.

I was too preoccupied with the broken end to notice how the other end 
attaches to the awning or roller.  Research seems to indicate that I 
can buy a replacement strap which somehow attaches with rivits.  Is 
this correct and where can I get a new strap?  From any RV parts 
dealer?  It sounds like an easy job but is there anything else I need 
to know?

This is on a 1979 International and the awning appears to be original 
equipment.
