I drove across Louisiana a few years ago and I don't remember it 
being overly rough.

There may be some simple things you can do to make your Airstream 
and tow vehicle ride better so that it can soak up those bumps a 
little better.

What brand and size tires do you have on the trailer and how much 
air do you carry in them?

What is your tow vehicle, what size tires do you have and what 
pressure do you carry in them? 

How many miles are on your tow vehicle and what have you done to it, 
new shocks etc?

What equalizing hitch are you using and how far is the ball behind 
the bumper.
