No spray on finish, Walbernize or have the whole thing 
stripped and recoated. Not a DIY  as the stuff requires 
careful handling to look good, stay on and not give you cancer.

I don't think you need the jack, it might cause more 
problems. Wait for a nice low humidity day ( when the wood 
has gotten as small as it can be ) and hammer on a board 
placed under the stile to drive them back together.  I don't 
have a very clear picture of what it looks like, and it may 
be that glue will render immobile a joint that is supposed 
to move with humidity so as to prevent cracking. Try just 
hammering it and see if it stays, otherwise I guess glue is 
in order. I would glue before screwing as the glue has a 
little more give. Screws won't move at all as the wood moves 
with the RH.
