If you want _lots_ of first-hand knowledge, check out the 6.0 
Powerstroke forum at http://www.ford-trucks.com/.  Lots of complaints 
of problems with '03 & '04 engines, some resolutions (flash updates, 
etc.), advice on how to handle dealing with dealers, etc. As many 
poster note, these posts are a reflection of those with problems, not 
a representative sample. Lots fewer problems with recent trucks. If I 
were in the market for a new Ford tow vehicle today, I'd definitely 
get a 2005.
