RE: [A/S] 4 WD when towing

Hi Jerry,
Not to take away from your comments about having emergency tools with you -
I carry the best tow strap I can find, but you reminded me of a fact I had
forgotten to mention about new 4 WD trucks.
I was concerned that my 2004 4 X 4 GMC 2500 HD truck would be so much higher
than my 2000 2 WD 2500 that I would need a different stinger for my Hensley
Hitch. I checked the bottom of the square receiver on the hitch and found it
to be 1" lower on the 4 X 4 than on the 2 WD. It turned out that the springs
are a slight amount stronger on the 2500 HD than the standard 2500, and my
rig dropped down 1" less when I dropped the trailer on the hitch of the new
truck. The rig came out dead level without doing anything at all. The point
of this post is the fact that the modern 4 X 4 trucks are not any higher off
the ground than the 2 WD models, at least not at the hitch.
