If you didn't charge him to pull him out, maybe he was right - it would 
have been a waste of money (for him).

I have driven upwards of a million miles and have needed 4wd only twice. 
Each of those times, a good samaritan with a chain was there to help me.

OTOH, I miss the harsh ride the 4wd springs would give me in my '03 Dodge - 
what I have now is way too soft and cushy ;-)
