Bill, I've been trying to watch the comments on this - have been in
and out with the holiday week. One thing that we have done, is
tried to stay with something light. I know one comment stated that
we should stick with a pop-up, but.......the main purpose of the
vintage Airstreams was for cars to be able to tow them during the
gas crisis, thus the lightweight, especially the Argosy Minuet 20'-
it weighs 2,450. I fully understand the accompanying weight you add
is an important factor as well as the proper hitch, sway bar and
braking system. We have just purchased a De'Lan Class 3 hitch with
wiring kit. And, if we are lucky enough to find our Airstream, will
get the rest of what we need to make a safe journey - which is of
the upmost importance in our travels. So many are unaware of the
advantages of the Eurovan itself. That's what will determine what
we tow, because we do not want to give up the luxuries of the
vehicle - heated seats, 4 wheel disc brakes, ESP - traction control,
sleeps 4, has a self contained refrigerator with table in the back -
but, you ask, then why do we need to tow a camper - we want more
room. I guess we just want the best of both worlds and have tried
to do our research and are perfectly happy to wait for our Argosy
and or Bambi or Globetrotter. I did receive a message from the
Eurovan group from a family that tows a 2004 19' Bambi with a dry
weight of 3,800 and said he has had no problems. So, it is possible.

Thanks to all that have commented. I can see that this site is as
interested in each other and as informative as the Eurovan Group.
Now if we'd just get that message saying they have our Argosy 6.0
Minuet waiting for us to pick it up - LOL.

P.S. We have also decided that if we decide to travel out west at a
later date (we are in the Southeast) that we will not tow - just
drive the Eurovan and sleep in it. Would be much more economical
and less strain on the nerves (hmmmm, wonder if I mean mine or my
husband's - ha ha)
