I tried the " Quick connect"  on a camper I had also...
Good thing it was OUTSIDE and used for a portable grill.
I disconnected the grill an the gas just kept coming.   a spark lit the  
gas so now I had a Large Blow Torch.   I had the piece of mind to take  
a spoon an hit the connector and it sealed close and put out the Large  
Flame.
Just as soon as I got home It was in the Junk pile....
