[A/S] Re: So MANY Questions! [reply to response]

Howdy all! MJ: my Yahoo [or PC] is acting-out again, I lost a long,
organized response to your replies yesterday; if I'm a bit terse, it
is NOT unappreciative of your info & advice -THANK YOU :-) - it's
trying to keep my losses [lost time] to a minimum.

I read a bit about the WBCCin my 1970 manual, am slightly
overwhelmed by all my sudden "joining-opps", will move ahead
slowly,, investigating what best suits me.

Too bad about the add-Gray-Tank costliness, it makes Boondocking-
while travling difficult [which I do a lot, and especially when in
central Mexico]

The latchdowns missing fr my rockguard: a knurled cylinder, flat-
blade screw slot at top, smaller diameter where it penetrated the
guard and screws into recessed threaded hole in window frame. Am
using 1/4" dia. hex-bolts, hopefully, temporarily.

I don't understand about adding battery(s) in front [if personal-
environment acceptable]. The always-on 12v line, and the trailer-
tow ground, are right there inside the 7-way access panel. 2 short
wires [#8 or #10, whatever] would seem to put the add'l. batt. in
parallel w/ the trailer's battery and the Aux, batt. in my truck
[which is downline fr my Isolater & Main Batt.]

Thanks for the new A/S parts site [sadly, my overhead-lt. lens not
there.

Since I can replace all 3 front windows [w/ Lexan] for less than 1/2
the price of a new Solar guard, I'm not too crazy about the latter
being "sacrificial".
OTOH: it surely looks COOL :> -like having put sunglasses on
my "Rolly-Polly".

The "cobble up a freeze warning set for about 35-40 degF" sounds
pricey, is beyond my tech info.
Although it's my intent -to generally avoid deep-freeze
conditions in "my Golden years" :>
   I'm unhappy having copper water-lines.
Would rather replace them w/ that gray-type [Butyl?] that are
easy to install, only expand upon freezing, resist splitting.
[And SO-O-O much easier to replace!]
Will investigate how this reduces-value of a mostly original
rig...

Love that "Captain Nemo" moniker for the Signalstat! 20,000 Leagues-
a favorite book & movie when I was a kid. Will clean inside of
both lenses, see how it looks.

I HAD a [new] GTO, 1968, fire-engine RED. For about 3 months: I've
lost track of how many times I ran out of gas, how many speeding
tickets, how many times cops stopped me just for the
****-of-it. :> Then I rolled it. :-(

TY for warning about 100% anti-freeze; was too eager to follow
advise of elderly mechanic here. My best info, augmented by back-of-
jug label, is to go for 70-30 mix.

>Airstreamers are always happy to help.<
That is what I've heard in the past; THAT is great!

[Have always felt that way: pass on the hard-earned info, pass on
the Stop-And-Lend-A-Hand so many have offered me.]

Tom B., Mountainair NM, 1970 31' Int'l. Sovereign Land Yacht
    -and LOVING IT! :>

PS: new Q's

1) if adjustable-height equalizer-hitch wants to be slightly off, is
it better for "slight" to be in front or rear? [Given my
experience, am embarrassed to need to ask this, but I DID
experience "different" towing characteristics when retrieving this
A/S from WI]

2) my folding shower stall [is called?] has broken plastic-trim on
top, the part that buttons to wall. Anyone know where to find
replacement, or something else that will slide onto the panel & work?

3] trailer came w/ 6-ply LT tires [not the ST's I've grown to
believe over the years] Are ST's not available in this 7.00x15
size? And -since the manual mentions an 8-PLY in that size, can I
go to that, and inc. my GVWR?

4) ...am I imagining it? Or does this 31'er, about 28' inside,
REALLY have more storage space than the 38' fifth-wheel [35'6"
inside] I just sold?!!! :>
