While industry code only requires a CO detector in RV's with or plumbed 
for a generator I have been recommending them for all vintage owners. 
The furnaces in the vintage units are nearly all past their designed 
service life. Not because they are built cheap, rather because nothing 
lasts as long as an Airstream and nobody makes RV appliances that last 
forever.

First Alert makes a combined smoke and CO detector that worked very well 
in our 22' Argosy.

Take care that the detectors you get are designed for small air volumes. 
Units designed for home use are very sensitive in the smaller volume of 
an RV.

The low voltage warning in the LP detector was intended only for it's 
benefit. The detector element will not work at lower voltages. The 
warning for other appliances is an unintended benefit.

Locations near the bathroom are dicey. LP detectors are cranky around 
high moisture and hair spray will set them off in a New York minute. 
Many time the LP detector is mounted on the forward end of the galley 
counter near the entry door. Finding an unused space in any RV is a 
challenge. Good luck.
