Just about any car can tow 2000 lbs. Have you considered just asking the 
wife to drive a separate vehicle and tow the boat as you tow the AS? When 
we are camping at nearby sites (within a couple hundred miles), we often 
take the (more convenient) sedan along to use to get around, leaving the AS 
tow vehicle at the campground when we are out. My wife drives it, and she 
could easily be towing a boat behind the sedan.
