[A/S] Argosy, drips from AC?

My 79 Argosy 29' is really working in Florida's 90's right now.   I  found a 
great repairperson to fix the electric and plumbing, anyone  needing name, let 
me know.  I will try to get the AC fixed in about 14  days.
Until then?  I have been running the AC but turning it off if it  starts 
sounding funny: a small amount of water comes out of the case, I  took a corner 
cover and put a plastic wastebasket under it.. Sometimes if I stop  it and try 
to restart it turns off the breaker.
A while back someone on AL said the 70's Argos have a water proof seal  and 
the cover is not really important.  I had some AC cover damage from  trees at 
the last park.  
 
Is the cover important?  I will ask a pro soon but do you think I  should 
shut the AC down completely?
