Joanne - You didnt mention the year of the airstream ,but having just removed and 
replaced one in my 63 , I can tell you that as well as changing the original exhaust 
vent , the heating duct exits the front now on the newer nt 24000 suburban model which 
fits the 60`s larger trailers . So your going to have to redesign that , if your furnace 
is over the wheel well , you will also need to build a new base as it used to rest on the 
ductwork . It had me scratching the old bald spot figuring the angled and tapered duct , 
but I made a pattern first of a pizza box , and then used a brake and a shear to 
fabricate the new duct . Fit nice in the end , but took all day to get the new unit in 
with the modifications .
    I wouldnt let it stop you if you know of a nearby sheet metal shop , or are 
with tools . There is a new nt 24 sp on ebay right now for 470 which is lots cheaper 
than camping world and certainly less than the rv places around here . You will need the 
bottom duct kit as well , 25 bucks , if its a 60`s trailer .
  Maybe that helps , I dont know about late model airstreams , I should think it would 
be easier than the older units .
