Re: [A/S] Tambour Replacement

The company's name is Winonah, you will have to buy through a local
dealer, mine shipped it right to me in a giant tube.

As I talk to people about tambours, it sounds as though it would be a
good idea to spring for the kind that has a fabric backing instead of
just paper. For short pieces and for horizontal places, like overhead
cabinets, the paper ones I got were fine. The big one under the sink has
been a pain.

Some things I have tried:

Smooth the plastic parts of the ends of the tambour after cutting it (I
used a saber saw) with fine sandpaper.

Make sure that the coils and tracks are straight and parallel, I mean
you have to be obsessive about this.

I painted the ends of them with hard enamel marine paint to keep the
ends from wearing to a fuzz of cardboard.

I put silicone spray in the tracks.

I put talcum power in the tracks. ( Hum, didn't try graphite power....)

Thinking about looking into teflon somehow.

Right now, my under the sink one will open and close with coaxing, but
not easily enough to live with, so I only close it for open house.

Other words?
