Re: [A/S] Tambour Replacement (my fix)

Greetings,

Several of the Tambour doors needed fixing when I bought my 74 A/S. All of
the parts were there. I went to a fabric store and purchased a very thin,
tight weave material made out of some kind of synthetic material and a
bottle of sticky white fabric glue.

After laying the tambour face down and all of the slats in their exact
original place, I used masking tape along the edges (about 3/8" in from the
edges) to hold everything while gluing and drying. I cut the fabric 3/8"
short on each edge to allow for the masking tape and to keep the fabric from
binding on the runners after replacing the doors in tracks. The glue was
applied with a roller or a foam brush. It has been 4 years and they are all
still working.
