Re: [A/S] brake controllers
Hi Chris. My setup is similar to yours. I haul a '76 sovereign with an '89
F250 I have the Prodigy and I like it; especially the self leveling feature.
Be sure to carry a copy of the instructions with you in the gear box. the
learning curve for using it is a bit stepper than simpler brake controllers.
Be sure the installation is in a place where you can clearly see the readout.
Mine wasn't and I got in trouble with it. The readout face is skinnier than
others. Go to your dealer and ask to see the instruction sheet that comes with
it before you buy. You have control over a lot more things than you have with
a simple brake control. Those things become automatic AFTER you select them,
not on their own. I really like mine. they worked with the people in the
trenches who install the controllers when; they developed the Prodigy and it
seems to have paid off. The controller is removable so it sits in a cradle.
You can use it in more than one vehicle ( I do) and there has been no problem
moving it back and forth between tow vehicles. It has a nice little pouch for
storage. I take it off when I am moored for a while and fear someone might rip
it off in a town. They did have a problem with some of the early ones and
recalled them. Ask your dealer about that as well. They are guaranteed
BTW.
