Re: [A/S] Sway driving out of it

No, it really isn't a prevalent problem. It's just more exciting
to talk about than the hours of quietly driving down the road
enjoying the scenery or talking to your companion. I can honestly
say in the 10 days on the road to and from the International I had
no occasion of "sway" to deal with. Of course I don't have the most
sophisticated hitch but it works for me.
I made the statement once long ago "that a properly setup Airstream
does not need sway control". This year at the International someone
whose opinion is well regarded in the Vintage family reminded me of
it. He said at the time he was skeptical but has since come to
believe it as well.
Virtually all the weight distributing hitches out there do what they
say they will. From the most sophisticated to the earliest designs.
They work. The difference IMHO is the more recent the design the
shorter the learning curve. It our hurry up society everybody wants
to DO IT NOW. In the past a person new to towing was told to practice,
practice, practice before taking to the road. Practice backing,
practice turning, practice braking, the whole thing. Now a days it's
off the lot and on the road. So the more recent designs make sense.
It's just if you take the time and learn how to use the tools you
will do a better job.
