RE: [A/S] Sway driving out of it
The best way, though perhaps counterintuitive, is to apply the trailer
brakes (only) and step on the gas. This very quickly straightens out the
whole rig.
A friend of mine who had a large trailer and an International Travelall in
the early 60s used this method to get out of sway/jacknife trouble. Both he
and his co driver got pretty good with this technique on a regular basis.
(the trailer was very long, and it was not the most stable rig in the
world).
