your local hardware store has a selection of aluminum
pop rivets. if i am not mistaken, the hole in the pull
handle is slightly smaller than the rod/sleeve hole
that fits over it. 
get a selection of rivets, trial and error, just put 
them through the hole and you'll find the one that
comes closest. length....enough to go through the
sleeve and the rod. when you've found the best fit
with the right length....use the pop rivet gun.
