John,
My wife needs a knee replacement so these are items
that we have addressed. First our previous trailer, a
Safari, had only one step. We went to Camping World
and found an overside step platform with folding legs.
This step was over $60 but it was very stable and was
actually wider and deeper than the Safari Step itself.
It has a plastic grilled top to allow for good
traction.

Campsites vary and the at some locations you can get a
handicapped spot or get a paved spot. We like paved
spots because they usually very stable and you don't
have the drop offs which sometimes cause the distance
from the step to the ground to be excessive.
