[A/S] Re: Old vs New Specs??

Old vs New, whats better?? Look at the specs of both and think about
whats important to you. A couple of things come to mind. A 1966 26'
Overlander weight 4250lbs, four inch frame, skin thicker, 2 inch
ball, gas hot water, 110/gas frig, gas stove, thin plywood style
cabnets, SS sink, black water only, etc... New Classic 25'(one foot
less) weight 6050lbs(w/o options), six inch frame, thinner skin, 2
15/16 inch ball, gas/12v/AC H/W, gas/12v/AC frig., gas cooktop(no
stove), Corain countertops, Black/Gray tanks, wood front/particle
board sides/back, etc... Old unit uses more rivets, new unit less but
with a glue seal to support beams. So, as you can see they both have
good things about them. If you could only get Airstream to build a
trailer body of the past/with a frame of today, a gas/12v/AC frig/HW
with a real stove/oven, "no particle board"(very heavy)
fresh/black/grey tanks then you would really have something. But it
would weigh even more than the units today of the same length and
cost a bunch more to build. It comes down to this, the Airstream
bodies of the past are far better, but the frame and systems are
better today. My 2 1/2 cents.
