Re: [A/S] Old vs New
Hi Allen,
I don't think it's a question of a decline" in quality of anything.
The old and new trailers are not different because of their quality so much
as the old trailers are what Wally Byam intended Airstreams to be. Light and
aerodynamic.
The new classics still have quality materials but so much quality they are
heavy which goes against the original idea. They have solid oak cabinetry, the
old ones had light cabinets. The new ones have very thick carpets, the old
ones had lighter floor materials....
The vintage trailers have a charm the new ones just don't and never will.....
put a 1960s Flying Cloud next to my 1996 and the Flying Cloud will, without
question, get all the attention....and rightly so.
That doesn't make my trailer not as good, just different. The old ones have
the "cool" factor.....
Cars are the same.... put a new Chevy next to a 1957 Chevy.... which one will
people notice?
