Re: [A/S] Re: Tow vehicles for 28ft.

John,
Like Hunter said...a lot of it is personal preference. I am very partial
to Suburbans...they fit my lifestyle and my family much better than a pick
up. I would rather have a diesel than gas but diesels cost more. I have
a 28 ft. A/S and I first started towing it with a 1/2 ton Suburban with a
350 engine. I didn't like it. It was underpowered and the transmission
eventually failed. I didn't tow in overdrive but I must have overheated
the tranny too many times. I bought a 3/4 ton Suburban with a 454 gas
engine and I love it. Plenty of power. Gas milage is not so good...10 or
11 mpg towing and not much better without the trailer. Again, I mirror
Hunters opinion that a 3/4 ton long wheel based vehicle is what I would
recommend. Diesel or gas, pickup or suburban...that is a personal
decision but stick with 3/4 ton and long wheel base.
Good luck,
Thomas
