Doug, I get on my roof at least once a year and have had no problem.  Ours is 
a wide body, so roof is not as "stiff" as a narrow body.  First, protect the 
aluminum skin by placing a clean protector pad under the ladder where it 
touches the trailer skin.  I try to keep my weight as close to the trailer ribs 
(rivet lines) as possible.  There are about six philips head screws that secure 
my A/C shroud to the A/C.
