You don't need it! 
The discussion has confirmed my original thinking that a ground is totally 
unnecessary with the portable generators for all of the reasons stated in the 
posts.
Believe me, a company as large, and litigation conscious as Honda would not 
place a product into the market place that required grounding without an 
adequate warning to that effect. Also, they would not place a product into the 
market that could result in a substantial hazard to its users. They have much more 
to lose than the user does if someone got hurt!
