[A/S] Generator Danger
Streamers
I have been meaning to put this on the list since I returned from Key West
and the discussion here about generators reminded me to do it now. While
boondocking in Key West, we would run one of the two Honda EU-2000s during
the day to charge the batteries when every one else ran their generators.
One day it was raining so I slid the generators under the slide out
(Integrity unit) to keep them out of the rain while charging the batteries.
We left for some local flavor and upon returning I found the CO2 detector
in the bedroom screaming. It took a while for me to get the unit cleared
out enough for the detector to shut up.
So, when using the generator(s) be sure of three things. 1. Do not put
them where the exhaust can find a way into the unit. 2. Do not have any
open windows when running the generators. 3. Be sure you have a working CO2
detector. I shudder to think what would have happened to us if we were
sleeping with the generators in that position and did not have the good
detector. And be sure the detector is mounted high in the room.
Off of soap box, have fun.
