Re: [A/S] Reasonable price for 1979 31' International?
Chris:
The layout you are looking at is pretty rare, I think it is the most
comfortable of all, if you want to sleep with someone. If I had to do
it again, I would even pay a bit more for that.
The biggest hidden problem on Airstreams is that the out live all the
other ones and often long enough to have leakage. You need to be
obsessive about looking for soft spots, I would use an ice pick to get
through the carpet. Places to look are around the door, under the back
window, under the front window and the bathroom floor. If you find rot,
don't panic we have all sorts of experts who can guide you through
fixing it, which isn't as bad as it sounds. But you should get a price
break if there is rot. next worst is new fridge, my '73 still working on
the origonal, but a new one can go $800. Then plumbing, don't buy it
without running the water thoroughly and looking for leaks from that.
Again, not a terrrible thing to fix, but price should reflect that.
Don't believe anyone about what works, insist on a demo or price
reduction.
there are plenty of these around (tho not that layout) so keep shopping
if you find expensive repairs without a good deal.
